Sven-Harry’s art museum in Odenplan is nothing short of...

Sven-Harry’s art museum in Odenplan is nothing short of unreal. The building itself is an architectural delight. It’s golden-clad walls, reflecting the early sunset in Stockholm, act as a beacon to design lovers. It completely lures you in.

The museum opened not that long ago, 2011, to be exact. It consists mainly of a large exhibition space, over several floors and on the top floor, a replica of one of Sven-Harry’s previous homes in Lidingö.

We went to see Nathalia Edenmont’s ‘Only Me’ exhibition which has just opened. And what a treat. I’m only sorry that my own photographs are such poor quality of these obvious masterpieces. Kiev-born Edenmont tragically lost her parents at a young age and moved to Stockholm in order to find her future. Her work portrays raw emotion with pure beauty and cannot fail to move you.

I saw an abundance of influences, from performance artist Marina Abramović, to fifteenth century painter Jan Van Eyck, and even early renaissance artist, Sandro Botticelli.

As an art historian, the relationship the artworks have with their surroundings really interests me and in this case, they worked in great harmony together. Edenmont’s work built in emotion with each floor, a crescendo, which left you breathless at the end. (Though, maybe that was the numerous flights of stairs!) in any case, I left the place full of inspiration and admiration of the truly talented Edenmont.
